What concept/s in this class have you found most interesting? What was it about that concept/s that you found interesting?
As mentioned in a previous post, I really, really found CMC or computer mediated communication to be really interesting. Its just so interesting how communication has been able to develop with new technology. 30 years ago no one would have imagined creating new relationships, communicating with family and friends or even getting stalked, via a computer. Computers have really changed the way we live and communicate.
And the interactivity of CMC is developing daily. I was just watching a commercial for 1-800-dentist today and it was a woman who is talking about wanting to go online and be able to chat with a live person on the website. And they hve it! I couldnt even imagine this 10 years ago. Its instant just like on the phone, but more convienient because you could do it while your online.
I remember when I knew peopel who first started dating online about 10 years ago. It seemed like such a foreign idea. My friends mom met her boyfriend online and they got married and I was so surprised. But now it seems like a totally normal thing to do.

Very good point how technology has driven how we communicate to a whole different level. It wasn't that long ago when emails were new and fascinating and now it is a thing of the past. Interesting how you point out how people are developing relationships more and more through text and online. For me, I think this is both good and bad.
ReplyDeleteFirst it's good because it is more convenient to talk to someone online and it is more instant as well as accessible. But bad because people become reliant on this form of communication and miscommunications do happen. In addition, relationships can become more informal if this is the only way people communicate.
I think this concept is really interesting too! Social Networking sites have swept the internet craze over. I feel like when I need to friends I haven’t seen in a while all I have to really do is shoot them an email. I feel like you can do anything with a computer these days good or bad. This has become such a big and powerful tool for us that I feel like we would all be lost with out it. I mean the class is an online class. We can interact without even seeing each other. I think it's awesome!
